State Farm continues to ignore the well-correlated comparables and instead keeps sending me the absolute garbage data set developed by their third party *** partners in an ongoing attempt to defraud us.

Original review Jun 20, 2025
So a tornado dropped a tree on my daughter's pristine 2018 Nissan Rogue S with only 63,247 miles on it back in the beginning of May 2025. Picture is of the kid's car.

She missed a few days of work and has had so much trouble trying to get the claim processed reasonably that I had to take it over. So much for learning a bit about adulting. Thanks for being a lousy company, State Farm!
State Farm screwed up having it towed, made her an appointment at a rental car company that didn't have any cars available, notified us we only had 7-day of rental car instead of the 30 in the policy on Friday before Memorial Day (wife and I are both VA-rated disabled Veterans) and pulled back the rental the next week (note: a BBB complaint convinced them to restore the rental but they took that action after the car had been returned and they had paid the bill - lousy rotten bastards!).
So...what else? How about this: they're rejecting the comparables I've provided from the two largest used car resellers in the United States and instead are sending us comparables that have very poor correlation with the loss vehicle.

How poor? What about including cars with more than double the miles, cars from California and listings from months ago.
So they're refusing to accept well-correlated comparables and keep sending me the same garbage comparables. Today they declared that we're at an impasse and told me they want me to spend money to hire an independent appraiser.

Actually, they want me to spend money on three independent appraisers. I'm thinking the right answer is to hire a lawyer instead.
Dirty, rotten bastards!

Are they ordering you to hire an appraiser or are they telling you “here’s what our appraiser says it’s worth” , you don’t agree and they said then get your own appraisal? You make it sound like they are asking you to pay their in-house appraiser from the get-go.

Good question. The answer is that we disagree on the valuation so they want me to pick an appraiser, they'll pick one and then the two appraisers are to meet and select a third appraiser.

They expect me to spilt the cost of all that nonsense with them because they still refuse to accept the far better correlated comparables I've provided.

Beyond that, they are attempting to reject some of my comparables based on distance but the unethical SOBs included comparables in their valuation from over 1600 miles away. They are digging themselves one *** of *** There's quite a class-action lawsuit brewing in all of this because they have an unethical approach to determining valuation.

No - those fine Americans think that we need to hire an fire team of appraisers: I hire one, they'll hire a second one and those two will put their heads together on selecting a third person. State Farm thinks all of this is reasonable yet won't consider the pile of comparables I've provided.

Seems like complete nonsense and they expect me to cover half the cost of those three completely unnecessary appraisals. We're only $3k apart, for goodness sakes! Terrible insurance company! Avoid them at all costs.

Their agents may be wonderful but the claims process is their downfall. I understand from my agent that she loses a lot of business anytime someone has a claim.

What value of the car has SF come up with ? What value are the comps you have come up with?

Great question! Loss vehicle was a 2018 Nissan Rogue S with exactly 63,247 miles on it.

I constructed searches on a number of different platforms that included pretty restrictive criteria in order to really zero in on actual cash value. I specified no accident history, mileage between 60-70k, must be S trim line and no previous fleet/rental usage. Basically, I described our vehicle to a tee and came up with $17,448. Worth noting is that this proposed valuation I've provided is lower than it would be were they to apply their mileage adjustment as almost all comparables had more miles than the loss vehicle.

I also cut them a break by not including shipping on any of the comparables even though it ranged from $300-****, depending on the vehicle. What they provided as comparables aren't really comparable. They included vehicles with as many as 148,300 miles, included different trim lines, included comparables from more than 90-days ago and also as far away as California. *** they even tried to pass off one comparable as two because they must think their policyholders are too stupid to spot something like that.

Their number is $14,729. Pretty hard to believe a company like State Farm is willing to have a policyholder absolutely wail on them over a $3k difference. Even more shocking given that we have been paying about $20k/year in premiums across all of the State Farm policies we currently hold.

Obviously. they are losing our business!

The problem is they declared the car a total loss but are trying to lowball the settlement by over 20%. They refuse to consider either set of comparables I’ve provided.

They are trying to convince me that mathematical adjustments to the cost of dissimilar vehicles is more accurate than the comparables I provided. For example, I searched for vehicles (exact same make, model and trim level) with between 60-70k miles because that describes the vehicle in the picture. They are trying to use mathematical computations (and won’t show the math) to adjust the value of one of their comparables that has over 130k miles. There’s not really a single comparable they provided that’s as close of a match as what I found through my research, which was shared with them.

No reasonable person would agree with their approach when much more similar vehicles are currently on the market.

They’ve also been trying to include vehicles that were in the market 3+ months ago and don’t really match our car very well either. Complete ***

They are busy trying to really screw us over on the valuation. My comparables that I've provided are far better correlated to the loss vehicle than theirs are.

We are about $3k apart and they are behaving horribly.

Now they want to hire appraisers and spend a bunch of our money because exercising a little bit of common sense is apparently way too much to ask. Dirty rotten bastards!

Mainly because they suck! There's a reason I've filed a couple of written complaints against them with the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance.

I believe their behavior on our claim is unethical and likely illegal. Try googling this: State Farm class action auto valuation.

They are getting sued all over the place because of their various attempts to defraud their policyholders when they experience a total loss. Real *** behavior!

Denied claim

I had a leak in my wall between the bathroom shower and a bedroom from the pipe that goes from the shower head to the pipe in the wall I did not know it was leaking because it was running down the wall into the crawl space until it got so bad a piece of the wood trim at the floor fell off from the moisture and there was mold behind it. They are telling me they don't cover mold and they won't cover the damage because I didn't report it right away.

I didn't know it was leaking until the wood trim fell off and I felt the moisture behind it and the plumber came and took a panel off the wall and stuck his head in there and told me to turn the shower on and it started spraying. The plumber fixed the leak the insurance adjuster came out and told me before he even saw it it won't be covered because I should have reported it right away and I did report it right away when the piece of trim fell off the wall even then there was still never any water in the bathroom never any water in the bedroom no signs of water. I have no intentions of helping me in any way.

Normally insurance companies would not cover the plumber which I've already paid but they would help with the damages the leak caused but State farm will not do it. They said they cover accidental leaks and floods well I didn't do it on purpose I'm sure *** in a pipe is accidental and I did not know it that I had to cut holes in the walls and check the walls periodically just in case.

Understand THIS...their adjuster works for them and their job is to get off as cheap as possible. Their adjuster has ZERO LOYALTY to you.

You don't have to just accept what they say and play doormat.

Call an INDEPENDENT ADJUSTER who WORKS FOR YOU. They will fight for you and if it means suing your own insurance company, the will help you with that.

We knew that we were not at fault, but the claim handler still concluded that we were at fault. At the intersection where the accident occurred, the Google map only showed the other side of the intersection, which had a narrow lane and obstacles.

The side where the accident actually happened did not show on the Google map; this is the corner where the accident actually happened. The claim handler did not want to listen to us, even though we sent her all the pictures and clips to prove that our statement is true. I would like to turn the case back and view it properly and responsibly.

I can provide you all the pictures, clips, and explain to you why we claim that. Thanks for reading this, and we greatly appreciate your response.

Worst insurance company I have ever dealt with! After 2 months of waiting on my one and only claim, they paid out less than $2400 to rebuild and replace my porch and roof.

I don't know what world they live in, but you can't even hire someone to build a garden shed for that amount of money.

They also at some point snuck in a change to my deductible to be 1% of the value of my home, which made it $3600. Stay away from them; they are nothing like their commercial.

Dishonest and untrustworthy

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Ive interacted with several State Farm agents over the years, and Ive never encountered anyone that I believed to be as unprofessional and unethical as EmmaLee Robinson, an Idaho Falls-based agent. Unfortunately, my experience with her exposed a pattern of deception, dishonesty, and political maneuvering that I believe reflects poorly on her character and business practices.

EmmaLee Robinson hired Chad Christensen, a former Idaho state representative with a questionable reputation.

Robinson contacted me through Facebook Messenger under the guise of asking questions about Christensen, implying she had just hired him and wanted to understand more about his background. Trusting her inquiry, I responded to her request. What I didn't know at the time was that Robinson was already working directly with Christensen to record the phone call without my consent or knowledge secretly, and the entire exchange was a setup.

EmmaLee Robinson and Chad Christensen secretly recorded the phone call they lured me into, and the first minute of the recording captured them discussing how to proceed with the recording. This level of what I believed to be premeditation and deceit was shocking.

Later, snippets of the recorded call were deceptively edited and circulated by Robinson's political allies.

Despite receiving a cease and desist letter from my attorney, Robinson claimed she had not authorized the release of the recording. Nevertheless, the damage was done. The orchestrated attack seemed to align with Robinsons association with Bryan Smith a well-known medical debt collector who has long meddled in Bonneville County politics.

Their collective goal appeared to be clear: to smear my reputation and cause professional and financial harm to me and my family. EmmaLee Robinson even engaged in personal attacks, including social media posts that targeted my Hispanic heritage, which was not only offensive but deeply troubling.

The situation escalated when Christensen attempted to sue me over statements made during the call.

However, his lawsuit ultimately failed because the claims I made about Christensen were truthful and well-documented during the discovery process. In the end, Christensen could not prove defamation, further validating the accuracy of what I had said.

This entire ordeal laid bare a disturbing truth about EmmaLee Robinson. I believe she knowingly hired someone with a tarnished record, collaborated with him to set up a deceptive ambush, and subsequently played a role in attempting to use that ambush to damage my career.

I strongly advise against doing business with EmmaLee Robinson. Her involvement with unethical political figures, willingness to engage in dishonest tactics, and lack of integrity should raise red flags for anyone considering working with her.

There are many reputable State Farm agents in Idaho Falls who conduct themselves with professionalism and respect for their community. In my experience, EmmaLee Robinson is not one of them.

Poor Claims Resolution With No Customer Communication

Still no response from State Farm.

Original review Nov 20, 2024
I am currently having difficulty obtaining any information or updates from State Farm regarding my claim (State Farm Claim No: 22-73B6-40Z).
On 08/27/2024 lightning struck my home and damaged my roof, alarm system, sauna, and several appliances and devices. The same day, I made an insurance claim and received my claim number from State Farm.

The claim has been transferred through 5 or 6 different Adjusters, and I'm not sure who the current Adjuster is.
I put together a spreadsheet including the damaged item, model numbers, cost of replacements, etc., and sent the list to the email address State Farm Provided. I've also sent several requests for the status of my claim. However, to date (it is now November 20, 2024), I have not received any communication whatsoever from State Farm concerning my claim for over 2+ months.
My current damage estimate is over $25,000. I have spent thousand's of dollars (out of my pocket) on repairs and replacements of some of the damaged items.

However, I have not been able to get any reimbursement, information or updates from State Farm...even though one of the State Farm Adjusters verbally told be to go ahead and repair and replace those items.
State Farm has very poor Claims Adjusters and practices. I highly recommend not depending on State Farm for your insurance needs.

I can provide all pictures, clips, and explain to you why we say that.

Thanks for reading this and I would much appreciate your response

After State Farm received the complaints, they redid their investigation and informed us that we were not responsible for the accident, but did not discuss how to get my car fixed

We followed up with State Farm and they told us to call Geico. When we called Geico, they said State Farm had already paid them, which meant State Farm admitted fault, so they had no reason to talk with us

We called State Farm again and asked them to work with Geico to get our car fixed, but State Farm did not want to do that.

At first, State Farm agreed with Geico that we were at fault without talking and listening to us.

So now, State Farm has to take responsibility and work with Geico to get my car fixed or they have to pay us to fix our car regardless of whether we have collision coverage

Additionally, we provided State Farm with two cameras that we found: the first one is on C Street NW and First Street NW, and the second one is on Indiana Ave NW close to the accident location, which belong to the DC police department. We contacted DC police and they said insurance or an attorney can pull out the camera footage

I hope State Farm will pull that camera footage to prove to Geico that their driver was at fault.

State Farm went from the best to the worst

UPDATE 10/29/2024I've noticed a State Farm formula for not paying: 1. Blank wall: don't answer phones; don't return calls, emails, or letters.2.

Push you to sign a release as past as possible.3. Delay delay delay: "We need ____before" 4.

Pretend to be on your side5. Always demand more information (often documents or information you would never have)I have switched to Amica car insurance but am waiting for my condo insurance to expire before I switch.

Original review Sep 01, 2024
State Farm auto and home insurance:
Auto insurance since 1992; current cost=790/yr
Condo insurance since 2015; current cost= 546/yr
Apartment insurance for years prior to buying the condo.
A lawyer told me State Farm is now one of the worst insurance companies. They have appeared in many news stories for dropping homeowner insurance policies using drones and absurd excuses.
This makes me think my experience isn't uniquely bad.
I tried to make a claim because another owner beneath had water damage.

I was on hold for 45 minutes and made the claim online while waiting. I waited for days for a call from a person whose job is to lie and generalize to convince me to withdraw my claim. I am dealing with a company who has lied to me constantly, but they said State Farm lied to them. Since they both seem to have a tenuous grasp on ethics, I'm not sure who to believe.

When I finally talked to an agent who told me how to claim a reimbursement, I thought I had to process. I submitted via email, on their website, and by mail. I rarely received any response. When I was forced to repeat this lady seemed annoyed.

(Lady annoyed does not begin to describe my mood right now.)
They said they work with Servpro, which I thought meant that they were legit, far from it. They are coming after me and keep sending bogus illegal add on bills in fits.
If I ever get out of this financial jail (Servpro has my bank account at negative 30k if I could pay) I will find another insurance company.

But once one insurance company screws you nobody else will even sniff your request.
OUT OF POCKET AFTER REIMBURSEMENT
$47335.16-$9912.75 (State Farm paid) =$37422.41 (paid over reimbursement)
Servpro charges
8/22: demand letter and packet containing mostly fraudulent charges
$5003.89 (8/22)
$1709.97 (8/22)
+$13184.81 (8/22)
*+$1749.66 (8/22)to return to check a leak I had to fix before they came out
=$42317.46
**+$154.35 (8/22) to move 39 flat boxes and ½ bag of grey powder-2 hours $21802.68
+*10000 (charged afterwards to submit documents to State Farm and the companys pain and suffering)
+$5000 Paid as deposit (might be included in total?)
= $36802.68 (Servpro total after 8/22/2024)
$8558.93 (paid) 2nd contractor to fix everything Servpro did
$1973.55 (paid)--Revised out of pocket: materials, fixtures, replacements
=$47335.16 (inc. $445 for electrician to install new donated light and $234.61 not reimbursed hotel bill)
RECEIVED FROM STATEFARM
$8252.21 + $1660.54 =$9912.75

State Farm Insurance - Money Still owed to contractors
Updated by user Aug 06, 2024

No the issues has not been resolved nor have I heard from State farm .

Original review Jul 20, 2024
I have written this before, but here I go. We had a house fire back on Christmas Eve in 2021.

We have State Farm for insurance and figured we would be fully protected as we paid our premiums just like everyone else. After the fire, we had no guidance as to where to turn. State Farm paid all the amounts owed to all other companies but not our contractors. I posted on here about them last year and heard back from someone from the company.

They paid a little more to the contractors after a fight but still owe $30k and said that it is now on us, they will no longer pay anymore. Let me tell you, you shouldn't have to fight to get your paid coverage taken care of. But with State Farm, you are just a file on a desk and I am now having to make monthly payments to the contractors who put a lien on our house and threatened to take us to court. We should not even have to worry about this at all.

We are actively searching for a new insurance company and warning everyone we know not to use State Farm.

I don't understand how they can leave a homeowner, who has had the insurance company for over 13 years, with debt like this. If I could give a lower rating on here, I would.

Unprofessional Misconduct Towards a Policy Holder

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I recently experienced appalling behavior from Robin A Turman- a State Farm Insurance agent while attempting to ask questions on my insurance policy, behavior that I believe no client should encounter.

During a routine call for information, the agent's response was disturbingly aggressiveshe raised her voice, interrupted repeatedly, and made inappropriate comments about my mother, who was also on the call, when she asked for clarification, so we could both get an understanding.

Her conduct was so disrespectful and erratic that I felt compelled to end the conversation.

When my mother attempted to follow up, to see why the agent was unable to maintain her composure. The agent shockingly escalated her behavior further, yelling at her and even inviting her to come to the office, in what felt like a veiled threat of physical confrontation.

Such hostility and lack of professionalism create an incredibly negative and unsettling experience for clients seeking straightforward assistance.

This behavior not only reflects poorly on the agency but could deter prospective clients who expect respect and professionalism in handling their insurance needs. I have no intention of ever doing further business with State Farm Insurance, once my policy has expired.

Furthermore, this disturbing experience and conduct will be in copious places, just in case someone else is disrespected by this emotionally aggressive, and sadly volatile woman.

Her conduct demonstrated a direct connection and violation of IIABA Code of Ethics for the state of GA. NABIP of GA, The Office of The Commissioner of Insurance.-Consumer Services Department.

User's recommendation: I recommend if having to deal with Robin A . Turman, that an announcement be made that your call is being recorded. If you like our family is disrespected by this woman, please report her. Such Complaints will allow her to take a look at herself and her conduct, while assisting the public. This behavior has to stop.
